Our mission is create products whose values should be devoted to the environmental sustainability, to the Portuguese tradition of craftsmanship and to the emotivity that these objects have to transmit to the customer. We prefer the “Upcycle", because this is a better and “more green" way of interpreting recycle: we wanna find a new use for every materials. We don’t want destroy discarded materials but rather convert them into new products with better quality, paying close attention to the conferment of an added value. The environmental benefits are manifold: • old objects doesn’t end up in landfills • releases of toxic gasses are reduced • there’s an important spare of energy and resources required with the traditional processes of recycling, in few words: A reduction of consumption in surplus
THE TRADITION AND THE MARKET:
The Tradition and the Market: We work in an studio of product design jointly with a system of self-production. It 'a strategy of "designer-to-consumer" that characterizes, qualitatively, our products (we try to create stories involving ecology, crafts and design).
- Working with recycled products we are able to reduce costs;
- Working with artisans we can get back the quality and the differentiation (and also recover the originality in a forgotten work);
- Working online we can avoid the "brokerage and reliance" on established companies and, hopefully, the creation of notoriety for our brand: Os Italianos Design.
